The post holder is also expected to cover breast clinics and theatre sessions and attend the weekly MDT.
|Typical Work Pattern||
During the 4 months the post holder will be working only in the breast unit with no on-call commitments with general surgery and no after-hours commitments. This will ensure enough time to get exposure to breast surgery as a speciality and potential career choice and also will enable the post holder to work more on the assigned projects they need for the academic part of the job.
Formal (protected) FY2 teaching, ward-based teaching and weekly MDT. Also trainees will have exposure to the one stop breast clinics and theatre sessions.
All Trainees are encouraged to undertake either an audit or research project in the Unit and are encouraged to contact Mr Yazan Masannat (Yazan.firstname.lastname@example.org) to discuss things further before starting the attachment for potential projects. This can be considered your research project for the academic part.
|Unique Selling Points||
As a tertiary unit the post holder will be exposed to a wide range of breast, oncoplastic and reconstructive procedures. There is close working relation with the plastic surgery department and many cases are done jointly.
The Breast unit runs a Bi-Monthly educational meeting. Trainees interested in a further career in surgery are encouraged to undertake either an audit or a project aiming for presentation/publication. The Breast Unit has excellent Academic Profile, especially that the Dean of the Medical School is one of the Consultants in the Unit.
