|Main Duties of Placement||
Placement includes four one week blocks of CCU and three months on cardiology ward (103).
Approximately half the ward rounds are done independently while the other half are done with a consultant or registrar.
There is also the opportunity to attend outpatient clinics where there is a specific patient list for the F2.
|Typical Work Pattern||
The job consists of week-long blocks on either 103 or CCU with weekend cover for both units. CCU involves working 12 hour days. There are no late shifts or long days on 103. The F2 also participates in the Hospital at Night rota.
There is a multi-disciplinary team meeting with cardiothoracics on Friday lunchtimes and monthly morbidity and mortality meetings.
Hospital F2 teaching programme 1hour per week (Thursday).
|Unique Selling Points||
The time spent in clinic and on CCU. There is also a lot of exposure to medical procedures e.g. permanent pacemaker insertion, CVP line placement (often observing only).
