Main Duties of Placement

Ward work.

Ward rounds.

Admitting emergency cases with established or possible infection.

4 months in Infectious Diseases.

Typical Work Pattern

1 in 5 evenings and weekends, plus Hospital at Night (usually 2 sets of 4 nights over 4 months). Night shifts include cross cover for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

Weekly foundation teaching (Tuesday), grand rounds (Wednesdays), Microbiology/radiology meeting (Thursday), Unit educational meeting/lunch (Friday).
