|Main Duties of Placement||
Psychiatric assessment of patients with mental health problems who are over 65. Day to day medical care of these patients and patients in outlying wards. Bleep system with half day cover for the entire site each week. Out of hours assessment patients admitted to hospital following self-harm, and of other psychiatric emergencies.
|Typical Work Pattern||
Monday-Friday 9am-5pm but with blocks of on call duties.
Journal club every Tuesday morning, plus ad hoc teaching on ward round.
Teaching every Tuesday morning, plus foundation teaching weekly.
|Unique Selling Points||
Good opportunity to look after patients a bit more independently, from a medical point of view, with more responsibility than in other jobs (but help is available when required).
