Living and Working in Scotland

A range of case studies,an interactive map and video/podcasts give you a great introduction to Specialty Training in Scotland.

Remote and Rural

Given the diversity of the geography of Scotland, remote and rural areas are part of the make-up of some territorial health boards within the four postgraduate deaneries.  NHS Education for Scotland (NES) has been involved in the implementation of remote and rural healthcare through the design and delivery of the Remote and Rural Healthcare Educational Alliance (RRHEAL).

The North of Scotland deanery, on behalf of the Medical Directorate of NES, leads on remote and rural training and works closely with the other three Scottish deaneries to ensure a consistent approach to training wherever in Scotland a trainee is located.

If you would like to take a virtual tour of some of Scotland's remote, island and rural practices and hear first hand of the many benefits to be had living and working in these communities, view a DVD on the Remote and Rural Healthcare Educational Alliance (RRHEAL) on the NES website at  http://www.nes.scot.nhs.uk/education-and-training/by-theme-initiative/remote-and-rural/about-us.aspx

RRHEAL supports the development of the NHS workforce providing healthcare services for people living in remote and rural communities throughout Scotland.
