| Main duties of placement: |
- As the F2, you will join a supportive and encouraging team.
- You will be be involved in providing daytime on call cover for OMFS. This involves taking call from primary care, wards and Emergency Departments across the region.
- You will join the CDF and DCTs in being the first point of contact for the F1 on the ward, supporting them to provide care for the in-patients.
- You will gain experience assisting in the theatre and out patients as well as procedures under LA.
- Evenings and nights include cross-cover for Plastics, ENT and OMFS. There is always a registrar on-call for each of the specialties for help and advice as required.

- Day shift (08:30 - 16:30)
- Long day (08:00 - 20:30)
- Weekend day (08:00 - 16:30)
- Weekend long day (08:00 - 20:30)
- Night shift (20:00 - 08:30)

| Learning opportunities: |
- Weekly OMFS teaching
- Regular M&M meetings with opportunity to prepare and present cases
- Involvement in QI and audit projects with opportunity to present
- Develop generic basic surgical skills e.g. suturing and tissue handling

| Teaching: |
- Access to weekly OMFS, ENT and Plastics teaching
- Mandatory F2 teaching hosted weekly and open to all F2 doctors across all specialties
|

- Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery provides excellent opportunities to experience the diagnosis and management of conditions which affect the mouth, jaws, face and neck. This includes the management of facial trauma, facial deformity, head and neck cancer ablative and reconstructive surgery.

- You would gain experience and basic surgical skills as well as generic skills such as time management, clinical prioritisation ad teamworking.
