| Main duties of placement: | Assessing patients coming through A&E doors. Helping out in resuscitation of critically ill patients. Performing simple procedures, i.e. suture wounds, reducing shoulder dislocation. |
| Typical work pattern: | Variety of day, late and night shifts. 10-12 hour shift lengths. On average, work one in two weekends. |
| Learning opportunities: | Case-based discussion occurs daily where management plans for unwell patients are formulated and discussed with senior doctors. |
| Teaching: | Protected teaching time for regional teaching and in-house A&E teaching sessions every week. |
