| Main duties of placement: | Care of elective orthopaedic patients and trauma patients on the orthopaedic unit. There is a regular (twice weekly) ward round by care of the elderly consultant. |
| Typical work pattern: | Rolling rota of full week receiving, week off, post take and elective ward cover. |
| Learning opportunities: | Daily morning x-ray meeting, twice weekly care of elderly ward round, adhoc teaching on orthopaedic ward rounds, weekly teaching session by orthopaedic consultant. |
| Teaching: | One hour of FY1 mandatory teaching weekly. |
| Unique selling points: | Working as part of a large orthopaedic team with a reputation for providing good training opportunities. Chance to manage patients with acute and chronic medical problems. |
