| Learning opportunities: | Formal (protected) F2 teaching, ward-based teaching and weekly MDT. Also Foundation Doctors will have exposure to the one stop breast clinics and theatre sessions. All Foundation Doctors are encouraged to undertake either an audit or research project in the Unit and should contact the department to discuss things further before starting the attachment for potential projects. This can be considered your research project for the academic part. |
| Teaching: | As above. |
| Unique selling points: | As a tertiary unit the post holder will be exposed to a wide range of breast, oncoplastic and reconstructive procedures. There is close working relation with the plastic surgery department and many cases are done jointly. The Breast unit runs a Bi-Monthly educational meeting. Foundation Doctors interested in a further career in surgery are encouraged to undertake either an audit or a project aiming for presentation/publication. The Breast Unit has excellent Academic Profile. |
