Main duties of placement:
  • Ward rounds 3 x per week with consultants; generally talk about patients first and then go round and see them.
  • Keeping discharges up to date.
  • Organising OP and IP appointments.
  • General ward tasks.
  • Ordering bloods.
  • Keeping TPARs and notes up to date.
  • MDT meetings once a week.
Typical work pattern:
  • Working pattern is 0900-1830 Mon to Fri.
  • Cross cover some wards due to staffing.
Learning opportunities:
  • MDT meetings every week.
  • Journal club/case presentations Friday.
  • Presentations on Tuesday.
Teaching:
  • Block release for teaching in Ninewells.
  • Teaching Medical Students.
