Main Duties of Placement | Ward rounds every morning, jobs from the ward round, discussions with specialist colleagues in Glasgow, cover for medical cases in A&E and receiving GP calls when on call, teaching medical students. |
Typical Work Pattern | Usually on-call one or two days a week when you cover A&E/GP referrals. You will share in the cover of nights and weekends. |
Learning Opportunities | Microbiology, Oncology and M&M meetings. Evening Medical Updates via VC with RCPE. Peer teaching weekly, monthly FY2 teaching for the region, Wednesday lunchtime academic meetings. |
Teaching | Monthly all day FY2 teaching, one Wednesday per month. This takes the form of self-directed learning with facilitated small group case-based discussions taking place in the afternoon and curriculum-based teaching taking place in the mornings. Also 1 hour peer teaching (every 2nd Tuesday). You will be encouraged to contribute to the Wednesday lunchtime meetings. There may also be opportunities to do ALERT, ILS, PILS and ALS. |
