Main Duties of Placement | Ward-based work and ward rounds in maternity and surgical ward, outpatient family planning, antenatal, gynaecology and colposcopy clinics and theatre sessions. |
Typical Work Pattern | Full shift; cross cover within surgical specialties to cover colleagues on annual leave, teaching and sickness. Out of hours cross cover of surgical and medical specialties. |
Learning Opportunities | Ward-based learning, weekly postgraduate meeting. Opportunistic case-based learning at clinic and theatre. |
Teaching | Mandatory FY2 teaching, ½ day per month. Weekly postgraduate meeting teaching. |
Unique Selling Points | Work directly with consultants. Act as 1st assistant in theatre lists and see patients in outpatients with discussion with consultant. Opportunity to experience variety of general medicine out of hours. With one JDiT in the evening and weekend you never know what will come in. |
