Main duties of placement:

Ward rounds.

Ward jobs (IDL's, prescribing, addressing acutely ill patients).

Typical work pattern:

Acute Medicine: Shift work including out of hours

General Medicine specialty attachment: Day shifts and occasional evening cover.

Two months in acute medicine receiving and two months in a general medicine specialty.

Learning opportunities:

Ward round based teaching, MDT meetings and opportunity to teach medical students.

Teaching:

One hour of FY1 mandatory teaching weekly.

Your general medicine specialty attachment will be on one of the following wards:

  • Renal
  • GI
  • Endocrine
  • Respiratory
  • Stroke / Rehab Medicine
  • Geriatrics
  • General Medicine
