Main duties of placement:

Ward rounds, admitting patients, lots of practical procedures, dealing with critically ill patients, attending crash calls.

Typical work pattern:

Monday to Friday 0830 to 1700 for Anaesthetics including Intensive Care Unit. 

Also part of the Acute Receiving rota which includes out of hours.

Learning opportunities:

Ward-based teaching, weekly anaesthetics meeting, practical skills teaching, airway management.

Teaching:

One hour of FY1 mandatory teaching weekly.

Unique selling points:

Well supported.

Lots of interesting practical skills like arterial lines and central lines.
