Main duties of placement:

Care of elective orthopaedic patients and trauma patients on the orthopaedic unit. There is a regular (twice weekly) ward round by care of the elderly consultant. 

Typical work pattern:

Rolling rota of full week receiving, week off, post take and elective ward cover.

Learning opportunities:

Daily morning x-ray meeting, twice weekly care of elderly ward round, adhoc teaching on orthopaedic ward rounds, weekly teaching session by orthopaedic consultant.

Teaching:

One hour of FY1 mandatory teaching weekly.
