Main duties of placement:

Teaching senior medical students on placement in Aberdeen. 

Developing teaching and assessment resources e.g. podcast development, question-writing. 

Assisting with assessment processes e.g. invigilation, OSCE logistics.

Typical work pattern:

9am-5pm Monday to Friday. No OOH.

No clinical contact scheduled.

Learning opportunities:

Opportunities to engage in all aspects of teaching, learning and assessment.

Medical Education Journal Club.

Teaching:

Opportunities for own teaching to be observed and for shadowing of more senior teachers' work.

Half day per month group teaching including facilitated case-based discussion, mandatory for FY2 trainees in Aberdeen.

Unique selling points:

Able to thoroughly engage in teaching activities, rather than trying to squeeze them in around your clinical commitments.  This includes time to read up on the theory and research relating to medical education.
