Main duties of placement:

FY2 doctors' duties in Urology:

  • Clerking in patients
  • Taking part in pre-assessment clinics
  • Daily ward rounds
  • Requesting investigations
  • Acting on results as appropriate
  • Chasing results of investigations
  • Circulating operating lists
  • Attending to emergencies e.g. renal colic and acute retention
  • Occasionally attending to queries from GPs or other wards
  • Attending theatre if time allows
  • On-call commitments as per timetable
  • Cross cover with ENT, Plastics, Neurology, Neuro-surgery and Urology
  • Writing patients' discharge letters (the flimsy)
