Main duties of placement:

Ward rounds, care of inpatients, assisting in OT, covering A&E when on call, sometimes both for Orthopaedics & General Surgery.

Typical work pattern:

Full shift, sometimes cross cover for General Surgery when on call.

Learning opportunities:

Ward.

A&E.

OT based.

MDT X-ray meeting every weekday in morning.

Participation in audits and M&M meetings.

Teaching:

Teaching as per Foundation teaching hospital programme and informal in MDT X-ray meetings, OT, A&E etc.

Unique selling points:

Mostly direct supervision on wards, A&E and particularly in operating theatres.
