Main duties of placement:

Ward rounds, planning investigations, doing ward-based procedures, discharging and correspondence letters. Looking after patient welfare on the ward.

Typical work pattern:

9-5 Monday - Friday. Occasional weekend cover and late nights.

Learning opportunities:

Ward-based teaching. Formal teaching once a month. Grand rounds.

Teaching:

1 day a month FY2 teaching. This takes the form of curriculum-based teaching followed by facilitated small group case based discussions.
