| Main duties of placement: | This post rotates through two main areas: Care of the Elderly Assessment and General Medical Admissions. On Care of the elderly assessment wards each day starts with a board round of all patients. Following this duties include attending consultant ward rounds, supporting multidisciplinary meetings and making assessment of adults admitted to Care of the Elderly Assessment wards. These wards provide multidisciplinary assessment of older adults often with complex needs. On General Medical Admissions (AMAU Ward GA) duties include making initial assessments of adults admitted as acute emergency, supporting consultant ward rounds, presenting cases at the three daily board rounds, attending adults who deteriorate after admission and helping formulate and deliver management plans for those patients |

| Learning opportunities: | Ward teaching on both Care of the Elderly Assessment wards and General Medical admissions Weekly grand round presentations Monthly audit meetings Foundation Training programme Interaction with multiple disciplines allowing considerable learning regarding what those disciplines can deliver |
| Teaching: | 1 hour per week mandatory FY1 teaching |

Staff are all dedicated to holistic, compassionate care and retain enthusiasm for clinical work. The balance of the post will allow the development of skills on both acute emergency assessment and ongoing care of complex cases. Raigmore covers a wide geographical area which leads to a wide spread of pathologies and unique clinical challenges. It is also a good base for those who would enjoy the many outdoor opportunities. |
