Main duties of placement:

FY2 doctors are expected to attend formal hand-over sessions at 0830 hours daily. Routine duties include ward-based activity in gynaecology and obstetrics and there are additional opportunities for attendance at gynaecology theatre sessions and specialist outpatient clinic sessions in both obstetrics and gynaecology.

Typical work pattern:

Working weekdays are 0830 - 1700 with 12 hr oncall shifts supported by resident middle grades and consultant from home out of hours. 

Learning opportunities:

A formal department teaching programme is in place with weekly FY2 teaching at 0845 hours every Tuesday and general postgraduate teaching on Tuesday afternoons.

Teaching:

A formal departmental PG teaching programme is in place with weekly teaching every Tuesday afternoon.

Unique selling points:

There are extensive opportunities for teaching medical students, getting involved in clinical audit/ research projects and developing interests in O and G for those interested in it as a speciality or as a sub-specialism in General Practice. 

A small, friendly team which support opportunities for developing specialty clinical skills.
