Main duties of placement:

Supervised management of acute paediatric cases. Involvement
in multidisciplinary management of chronic paediatric cases.

Supervised management of well babies and sick neonates.

Outpatient clinic attendance.

Related administration, professional development, training and audit.

Typical work pattern:

Full time, alternating covering between children's ward and SCBU/Postnatal wards. Covering all after hours and weekends.

Learning opportunities:

Wednesday morning departmental teaching, with opportunity to give a presentation yourself during block. Welcome to attend registrar ward teaching on Friday mornings.

Teaching:

1 day a month FY2 teaching. This takes the form of curriculum-based teaching followed by facilitated small group case-based discussions. 

Unique selling points:

Opportunity to attend paediatric clinics on half days. Working closely with consultants.
