Main Duties of Placement

Ward rounds, admitting patients, lots of practical procedures, dealing with critically ill patients, attending crash calls.

Typical Work Pattern

Monday to Friday 0830 to 1700 for Anaesthetics including Intensive Care Unit.  Also part of the Acute Receiving rota which includes out of hours.

Learning Opportunities

Ward-based teaching, weekly anaesthetics meeting, practical skills teaching, airway management.


One hour of FY1 mandatory teaching weekly.
