Placement Intensive Care Medicine (Critical Care)
Year F1
Region North
Hospital(s) Raigmore Hospital, Inverness
Main Duties of Placement

Ward rounds, admitting patients, lots of practical procedures, dealing with critically ill patients, attending crash calls.

Typical Work Pattern

Mon-Fri 8:30 to 5pm.

2 weekend shifts in AMAU in 4 months.

Learning Opportunities

Ward-based teaching, weekly anaesthetics meeting, practical skills teaching, Airway management.

Teaching

1 hour per week mandatory FY1 teaching and weekly anaesthetics meeting.

Unique Selling Points

No other FY1 job will be so well supported. Lots of interesting practical skills like arterial lines and central lines.
