| Main Duties of Placement
|
- Elective and emergency patients admissions.
- Biologics infusions,
- Attend out-patient clinics at Woolmanhill, specialised clinics.
- CTD, Bone, Ankylosing Spondylitis clinics during your placement.

| Typical Work Pattern
|
- Working hours 09.00- 18.00. You also cover AMAU at weekends (1 in 4).
- Out-of-hours care is provided by the Oncall Team of the East Block (up to SpRs level). Hand-over on Friday evenings (+/- weekdays if required).

| Learning Opportunities
|
- Attend as many outpatient clinics (Woolmanhill) as possible.
- Attend all specialty clinics at least once: Connective Tissues Diseases, Bone and Ankylosing spondylitis.
- Wednesday morning injection clinics is a must. This is a great opportunity to learn how to aspirate/inject joints and soft tissue lesions.
- You should also try to attend a DEXA scan session to familiarise with the procedure.

| Teaching
|
- Rheumatology MDT meetings.
- X-ray Meeting.
- Postgraduate teaching sessions on Wednesday afternoons: Hospital (Grand Round) 1-2 pm.
- Rheumatology postgraduate seminars are held at the Suttie building between 2-3 pm.
- Friday afternoon teaching - held in Tutorial room, Infection Unit. Rheumatology staff have to do a presentation every 4 weeks.
- Pathology, Audit and research meetings - once every 6 months.
- Deanery held teachings 5hrs /month.
