Main Duties of Placement | This is a Medicine of the Elderly post in a community hospital. Your remit will be the day-to-day care of frail elderly patients recovering from an acute illness. You will provide late shift cover to the unit alongside a Nurse Practitioner and weekend on-calls are within the MOE wards of the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. |
Typical Work Pattern | 9-5 Monday to Friday with 1 in 4 weeks working 12-9. 1 in 5 weekends at RIE MOE |
Learning Opportunities | Comprehensive geriatric assessment, management of multimorbidity, anticipatory care planning, complex discharge planning, palliative care, Hospital@Home taster week, medical student teaching. |
Teaching | Weekly unit teaching on a Monday at ELCH. Video linked teaching from MOE at RIE on a Tuesday. |

There is a supportive senior team and a wide range of learning opportunities. All trainees are given the option of a 1 week taster in Hospital@Home.
