Main Duties of Placement | This post will offer experience in Community Medicine in the Hospital at Home Team along with duties in the Medicine for the Elderly service and some shifts in Acute and General Medicine in a supported environment. You can expect a minimum of 4 weeks time in the Hospital at Home Service. Main duties:
Will work as part of a team providing out-of-hours care for acute admissions and existing inpatients in the medical wards |
Typical Work Pattern | Acute medicine shifts 0900-1700, 1100-2130or 1300-2130. Ward shifts 0900-1700, or late shift 0900-2130. Night shifts 2100-0930. Weekend shifts every 3 to 4 weeks.

Learning Opportunities | There is a multi-disciplinary medical unit educational meeting every Tuesday. There are also specialty educational meetings which will be aligned with your ward base. St John’s Hospital has a well-equipped clinical skills lab. Supportive clinical supervisors and middle grade training doctors will provide feedback on your clinical work and assist in completion of Supervised Learning Events and direct you towards additional learning opportunities. |
Teaching | Curriculum-based FY2 teaching programme delivered on Wednesday lunchtimes. |
