Main duties of placement: | Consultant-led ward rounds, clerking and initial assessment of patients admitted as acute surgical admissions/ortho trauma. Peri-operative patient care on wards. Management peri-operative patients on call in conjunction with HAN. |
Typical work pattern: | Full shift rota on a 19 week cycle. Shifts include acute surgical receiving, HAN, and time with one of our elective teams in General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology or ENT, allowing a broad surgical experience. |
Learning opportunities: | Ward-based learning. MDT and other speciality-specific meetings. General Surgery teaching programme with planned FY1 involvement. Ortho Trauma meetings. |
