Main duties of placement:

Pre-operative assessment/preparation. 

On-call shifts including gynae referrals, obstetric emergencies and assessment of obstetric patients. 
 
General ward work; very few inpatients. 

Typical work pattern:

Full shift;

HAN shifts include O&G cover. 
 
1 weekend in 4-5 (weekends very quiet). 

Learning opportunities:

Mainly clinic- and theatre-based teaching. Lots of opportunity for both if you're interested. Weekly gynae/onc MDM. Monthly neonatal meetings. 

Teaching:

Overflowing with teaching opportunities, skills based courses, Obs emergency study day etc. 

Unique selling points:

The team feeling; first name terms with everyone, team lunch every day, everyone is supportive and friendly, good banter.
