Main duties of placement:

Assessing, clerking and reviewing acutely ill patients.

Consultant ward rounds (8am and 4.30pm).

Covering CAA boarders on other wards with consultant.

Liaising with other specialties both within and beyond RIE.

Typical work pattern:

This job is full shift, with blocks of day (08.00 to 18.00), late (16.30 to 00.15) and night (midnight to 10.00) shifts.

Learning opportunities:
Teaching on ward rounds.
Teaching:

Hospital F2 teaching programme 1 hour per week (Thursday).

CAA teaching programme 1 hour per week (Friday).

Unique selling points:
Exposure to acutely ill patients, particularly when on front bays (base one has 8 monitored beds). Opportunities to undertake practical procedures e.g. lumbar punctures, pleural and ascitic taps.
