Main duties of placement:

Ward-based placement.

MOE assessment of new patients e.g. falls/cognition/continence.

Participate in consultant-led ward rounds and lead own ward rounds.

Participate in MDTs.

Typical work pattern:

9am-5pm days with long days 9am-9pm approximately two times in a normal week.

Approximately 1 in 8 weekend days 9am-5pm and also on HAN rota approximately once a month.

Learning opportunities:

Ward-based teaching.

Rapid rundown multidisciplinary meetings daily.

Teaching:

Departmental teaching Monday lunchtime (1 hour).

Radiology meeting Thursday lunchtime (1 hour).

RIE FY2 teaching (1 hour).

Departmental Morbidity Review Meeting – last Thursday of each month (13:15 – 14:00)

Weekly Tuesday Lunchtime Teaching Seminar (13:15 – 14:00)

Combines acute/general medicine and also wider assessment or elderly peoples' needs.
