Main duties of placement:

Attend ward rounds throughout day and execute plans arising from these.  

Attend to medical needs of patient. 

High degree of patient contact. 

Assist with medical needs arising from Programmed Investigation Unit.

Typical work pattern:

Daily 8-5pm. 

Regular on-call shift work, with nights, weekends, evening shifts covering both neurology and neurosurgery (and infectious diseases at night).

Learning opportunities:

Juniors are exposed to a wide variety of neurological syndromes which are rarely seen elsewhere in hospital medicine. 

Good opportunities to improve neurological history and examination.

Lumbar punctures regularly.

Teaching:

Excellent commitment to teaching from faculty.

Thursday afternoons given over entirely to teaching.

Regular registrar and consultant lead teaching opportunities. 

Unique selling points:

Excellent teaching. 

Perfect lumbar puncture skills.

A wide variety of pathology.
