Main duties of placement:

Mainly ward rounds and ward work.

There are consultant ward rounds twice per week.

During the rest of the week the F2 undertakes their own ward round with registrar support as needed.

Typical work pattern:

Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with blocks of Hospital at Night Duties.

The F2 also provides weekend cover on the respiratory ward approximately once a month working 8.45am to 9.15pm, Friday to Sunday.

Learning opportunities:

Weekly radiology meeting.

Weekly Respiratory Educational Meeting presentations on a Wednesday.

Registrars and Consultants are always available for discussion.

Teaching:

Hospital F2 teaching programme 1 hour per week (Thursday).

This job offers the opportunity to take responsibility for patient care by doing your own ward rounds.

This occurs in the context of readily available registrar support.

There is also the opportunity to do practical procedures including pleural aspiration.
