Main duties of placement:

Outpatient clinics.

Assisting in emergency and elective theatre.

Assessment of obstetric triage patients and emergency gynaecology patients.

Ward-based care.

Typical work pattern:

1 in 3 weekends.

4 sets of nights in the 4-month block.

On call shifts are 8-8.30.

'Normal' days are 9-5.

Learning opportunities:

Departmental meeting most weeks on a Tuesday lunchtime.

Teaching:

Mandatory protected teaching time for:

  • NHS Fife Medical Education Services FY2 Core Education Programme delivering 1 hour per week.
  • NHS Fife Medical Education Services FY2 Core Simulation Programme delivering 3 sessions per block.
