Main duties of placement:

Assessment of acute respiratory admissions including COPD, asthma and lung cancer. Also expose to CF admissions and ward attenders as part of the Scottish Adult CF service.

Typical work pattern:

Monday-Friday shift pattern 9am-5pm and daytime weekends.

Learning opportunities:

Regular opportunities for ward-based teaching. Experience of chest aspiration and chest drains.

Weekly departmental clinical meeting Tuesday lunchtime and FY teaching Thursday 1pm.

Teaching:

Respiratory meeting 1 hour per week. Hospital FY1 teaching programme 1 hour per week.
