| Main Duties of Placement | Ward management of patients. Pre-assessment clinics and theatre when able. |
| Typical Work Pattern | Daytime working with a long day (8am-8pm) or receiving days (9am-9.30pm) 1 in 4 days. Cross-cover for surgery on long days. Weekend cover once per month with cross cover for surgery. Participate in hospital-wide FY1 HAN rota. 7 nights per 4 months. |
| Learning Opportunities | Daily trauma meetings with daily trauma ward round. Weekly Weds surgical departmental meeting. Friday departmental teaching with F1 case-based presentation and middle grade journal presentation. Weekly Tuesday F1 teaching. Bi-monthly Thursday F1 teaching. |
