| Main Duties of Placement | Assessing all acute minor and major presentations to the A+E department, and making a diagnosis and management plan for them. This includes seeing paediatric emergencies. |
| Typical Work Pattern | Full shifts including night shifts. |
| Learning Opportunities | Absolutely fantastic learning opportunities as the medical exposure is so vast. You will see a spectrum of well to very sick patients and, as there is a paediatric component to the department, your skills and confidence with working with children will be greatly improved. A senior is always available to discuss difficult cases and teach clinical skills such as suturing, airway management in resuscitation etc. |
| Teaching | Weekly teaching every Wednesday. Participation in audits which are presented at the end of the block. |
