Main duties of placement:
  • Ward rounds, ward jobs; venflons, bloods, discharge letters, reviewing unwell patients.
  • On call cover of other medical wards.
Typical work pattern:

Full shift including weekends and nights.

Learning opportunities:
  • Small amount of ward-based teaching.
  • Involved in weekly MDT.
  • Plenty of formal weekly medical teaching with opportunity to present.
Teaching:
  • 2 hours per week FY1 teaching.
  • Opportunity to attend further medical division teaching 2-3 hours per week.
Unique selling points:

Working as part of a team with consultants, middle graders, nurse practitioners and staff nurses with exposure to general medicine, care of the elderly and medical specialties.
