Main duties of placement:
  • Theatre learning peri-operative care and airway management.
  • ICU ward rounds.
  • Surgical HDU managing post-operative pain and fluid balance.
Typical work pattern:

On-call is for General Medicine.

Learning opportunities:
  • Ward and in theatre.
  • Weekly departmental meetings.
Teaching:
  • Protected Tuesday lunctime and Thursday lunchtime.
  • Wednesday lunchtime Hospital Grand Round.
  • Monthly academic half day.

Opportunity to become skilled at basic airway management and an introduction to advanced airway management. Plenty of opportunities to insert A lines and central lines for keen trainees.
