Main duties of placement:
  • Out-patient clinics.
  • Assessment of GP referrals under supervision.
  • Review of patients.
  • Involvement in the day unit.
  • Working within an MDT.
  • Assessment of liaison referrals.
  • A & E referrals.
  • Clerking of admissions to ward 2.
  • Review in-patients.
Typical work pattern:
  • Partial shift - long shifts and night shifts.
  • Cover Mental Health Services in FV.
  • Provide emergency assessment service.
  • A qualified nurse available to do joint assessments of referrals.
Learning opportunities:
  • Ward rounds.
  • MDT Meeting.
  • CPD Session including Journal Club and Case Presentation.
Teaching:

Fortnightly internal teaching with great attendance and participation from senior staff. Many external speakers invited. Wide variety of topics. Receives excellent feedback.

Mandatory Foundation teaching.
