Main duties of placement:

Assessment of unwell and critically ill children in the paediatric assessment unit.

General Paediatric and Neonatal Ward rounds.

Care of the newborn including attendance at deliveries and postnatal care.

Typical work pattern:

Full shift including night shifts.

Learning opportunities:

Significant learning opportunities with weekly education programme.

Monthly neonatal forum and paediatric forum.

Quarterly neonatal morbidity and mortality meeting.

Six monthly joint teaching with emergency department and PICU retrieval.

Regular child protection training session.

Teaching:

Mandatory hospital FY teaching weekly.

Bleep-free FY departmental teaching on Monday afternoon.

Opportunity to attend ST teaching on a Wednesday afternoon.

Monthly MDT teaching on a Friday afternoon.

VC link to Yorkhill on a Monday and Tuesday lunchtime and Ninewells on a Wednesday afternoon.

Trainees will be expected to present at these sessions.
