Main duties of placement:
  • Diabetes Clinics at Clydebank Health Centre.
  • Support of diabetes team.
Typical work pattern:

Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm.

Learning opportunities:
  • Consultant-led diabetes clinics.
  • Attendance at GP/diabetes community nurse clinics and visits.
  • Weekly diabetes MDT.
  • Diabetes MCN meetings.
  • IP review visits with secondary care DSN.
  • Structured patient education.
Teaching:

Attendance at all FY2 teaching programmes.

Unique selling points:

This new post is a unique opportunity to learn about chronic disease management across the divide of primary and secondary care.

The trainee will spend half their time in a tertiary referral diabetes centre where they will gain knowledge and experience in diabetes complications/new diabetes therapies/type 1 diabetes/insulin pump treatment/diabetic foot ulceration treatment.

Great opportunities to perform clinical research.

Other side of post will be spent seeing patients with primary care team seeing management of type 2 diabetes in the community.
