Main duties of placement:

Management of acutely admitted unselected general medical emergencies.  Attendance at general medical clinics. Support of nurse-led services (DVT, chest pain service, etc.).

Regular timetabled ward-based and small group teaching of undergraduates.

Typical work pattern:

Full shift.

Learning opportunities:

Consultant-led ward rounds twice a day; review all general medical admissions. 

Weekly Medical unit meeting.

Teaching:

Over the full year there is the opportunity to deliver regular timetabled teaching to students and participate in a medical education course aiming for a certification which can be used towards a diploma and/or degree.
