Main duties of placement:

Ward-based cover, ward rounds and supervised outpatient experience. Teaching medical students. Placement in CCU, specialities and Acute Medical unit.

Typical work pattern:
  • H@N cover one in eleven.
  • Shift working to 10pm to cover AMU/MAU.
  • Otherwise ward based 9 to 5.
Learning opportunities:
  • Informal ward-based teaching including teaching of skills and procedures.
  • Monthly departmental Morbidity and Mortality.
  • Weekly medical unit educational meeting.
  • Weekly MDT meetings for each subspecialty.
  • Speciality educational meetings.
Teaching:

Mandatory FY2 teaching programme covering the foundation programme syllabus. There are hospital postgraduate meetings at least monthly.

Unique selling points:

Close and supportive working with Consultant staff. Excellent nursing and paramedical support. Smaller medical unit in close proximity to Glasgow.
