Main duties of placement:

Being part of a team in managing in-patient and out-patient chronic endocrine conditions and liaising with multiple specialties and communicating results with families.

Managing day case investigation ward 2 mornings per week.

Organisation of weekly Grand Round, weekly results meeting and monthly x-ray meeting.

Typical work pattern:

Monday to Friday daytime paediatric endocrinology with out of hours responsibilities in general paediatrics.

Learning opportunities:

Opportunity to participate in research or audit in the department with many of the clinicians being active researchers.

Teaching:

Weekly Journal club, research meeting and departmental teaching.

Unique selling points:

Participation in out-patients – opportunity to see patients and discuss with responsible consultant.

Opportunity to develop research skills and make links with clinicians actively involved in research.

Encouraged to present/participate at all weekly teaching sessions.
