Main duties of placement: | Medical management of patients undergoing rehabilitation at the Biggart Hospital. Assessment and management of patients admitted to the acute stroke ward at Ayr hospital, Hospital at night duties. |
Typical work pattern: | Full shift, including night shifts, with medical receiving duties 2100-0100 at Ayr and off-site on-call duty for the Biggart hospital 0100-0900. Day shifts at Biggart and Ayr hospitals. |
Learning opportunities: | Opportunistic ward-based teaching mostly at Ayr hospital. |
Teaching: | Mandatory Wednesday morning teaching sessions with 1 presentation each given by a consultants and FY2. |
Unique selling points: | This placement will give a foundation in medical management of elderly patients. Medical receiving work through hospital at night is varied and a highlight and together with work on Ayr stroke ward offers good learning opportunities. |
