Main duties of placement:
  • Baby checks on post-natal wards.
  • Trainee in special care baby unit and NICU.
  • Attending deliveries and carrying crash bleep.
  • Seeing outpatients on neonatal unit.
Typical work pattern:

Mix of 9-5 days on wards and special care and shifts on ICU.

Learning opportunities:

Teaching from consultants on ward rounds.

Teaching:

Unit teaching every Wednesday and Thursday morning for one hour each day. Trainees take it in turns to present on chosen topics followed by discussion.
