Main duties of placement:
  • Attending and participating in ward rounds.
  • Basic ward duties.
  • Helping to see ward emergency attenders.
  • Pre-assessment.
  • Supernumerary and taught in outpatients and theatres.
Typical work pattern:

On call hybrid; 1 in 6 Monday - Thursday covering South Glasgow 1st on for ENT and 1 in 14 full shift weekend covering pan Glasgow & RHC (Paediatric) ENT for nightshift and South Glasgow ENT for day shift.

Learning opportunities:
  • Ward-based.
  • Weekly departmental teaching.
  • Pan-Glasgow Friday afternoon ENT teaching,
  • Outpatients.
  • Theatres.
  • Head and neck MDT.
  • Two full days introduction to ENT at start of placement.
Teaching:

As above.

Also mandatory FY teaching and hospital grand round every week.
