Placement Acute Internal Medicine

Hospital(s) University Hospital Crosshouse, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire
Main Duties of Placement

Care of adults within the acute medical setting.

This placement is an attachment within the acute medical team with cover in the admissions and combined assessment unit.

Typical Work Pattern

Full shift, including late and night shifts, with cover provided for emergency medical admissions.

Involvement in the Hospital at Night team.

Learning Opportunities

Consultants are keen to teach on receiving ward rounds.

Numerous opportunities within the medical division including the assessment and management admissions.

Also the opportunity to participate in audit and clinical governance projects.

Within sub-specialties there are governance meetings and CPD meetings.

Teaching

Mandatory weekly FY1 teaching, bleep free.

Weekly General Medicine Teaching, Radiology teaching and Medical directorate CPD sessions.

Each Sub-specialty has additional CPD/governance meetings.
