Main Duties of Placement

Theatre, clinics, ward cover, acute receiving.

Typical Work Pattern

Participation in 1:10 on call rota with senior middle grade cover during day and night. Regular participation in theatre and clinics.

Learning Opportunities

Practical surgical experience as part of, UGI and colorectal teams. Consultant led teaching in clinic and theatre. Close supervision and feedback during on call.

Teaching

Weekly FY2 teaching, weekly hospital meeting, Monthly surgical meeting and monthly surgical junior teaching session. Additional Lanarkshire wide surgical teaching available in Kirklands and simulation training in Monklands.

Unique Selling Points

Consultant led teaching in clinic, theatre and ward, opportunities to develop surgical portfolio in theatre. Broad ranging hospital based teaching programme across specialities. Surgical simulation training.  Audit and research encouraged and supported.
